Four days of Easter weekend fun, the Extravaganza officially signals the start of the drag racing season.
As seen on the opening to the episode, we had the pleasure of sending a complete film crew, up to witness the raw scale of this event, from an aerial point of view. Thousands of cars and stands sandwich this 1/4mile stretch of tarmac.

The Auto Trader Easter Thunderball
Friday 6th to Monday 9th April 2012

The most action packed motorsport weekend this Easter and we’re covering it!
It will start with us leaving early Friday morning, to meet up with crazy Frenchman Eric Teboul and his 200mph rocket bike. Whom, to say the least, will be one of the many highlights of the weekend.
Meeting Eric at the Eurotunnel Terminal, Togethia TV will capture his trip to the UK and then follow him to Santa Pod and set up for the long weekend ahead.
You can expect to see Pro Fuel Shootouts, National Drag Championship cars and bikes, which can achieve speeds of 240mph in under 6 seconds!
On top of all that we have the usual monster trucks, freestyle motorcross, Team Maximum Lock drifting display and Terry Grant’s stunt display. The weekend will have drifting, fireworks, helicopter flights and aerobatic air displays just to name a few…

Where to start, well basically this feature was a bit of an accident. Tim, James and Will were on their way to shoot the fire breathing RX7 of Steve Putt when they received some news that meant they would not be able to. Fear not however: the feature will be coming and when it does, boy are you in for a treat. So a few rushed phone calls later and we were on are way from Yeovil to Bristol, James unfortunately had to head home but Tim and Will soldiered on. When we arrived at the unknown location we were presented with an amazing array of drift machines, RX7s, S13s, a BMW chopped up pickup?!!? But more importantly – Brad Hacker’s RX8, fresh from its little trip to Dragon Performance.
Up close and in person this car is a work of art and truly a spectacle to behold – I’ve never even seen an RX8 converted for drift use on the Internet, let alone in the flesh!
Kyouto Drifter Lum: “We can remember Brad’s exact words when he first got the 8…… I’m going to tidy it up, paint it, get some wheels & keep everything else standard. It’ll make a nice tidy road car……..”

A small video montage of Kyouto Drift & Dragon Performance heading down to Smeatharpe “Dakota Raceway” in Devon for an “Open” drag and drift day.
The road surface was rough to say the very least, but what lacked conditions wise, was made up by the large number of familiar faces and civil atmosphere. Although overall it was a great day with plenty of time to practise in Lum’s recent buy the Works9 S14a and Ricky’s Nascar S15.
